Terms & refunds
What you’re buying
MaPC is free to download and use. Supporting MaPC is an optional, one-time purchase that gives you a license key. The key unlocks the “Pro” extras in MaPC 1.x: save backup, playtime stats, keep Mac awake, game shortcuts, the menu bar launcher, Siri and Shortcuts, Retina resolution, the performance HUD and ⌘ as Control, and a place on the Wall of Fame if you choose to add a name. We may add more extras to 1.x over time. A future major version may be sold separately.
Who sells it
MaPC is made by Steale LLC. Payments are processed by Gumroad, which is the merchant of record. It collects any sales tax or VAT and sends you the receipt. Gumroad’s terms apply to the payment.
Price and tiers
You choose the amount, from $4.99. The tier names (Insert Coin, High Scorer and Arcade Hero) set your row on the Wall of Fame. Every tier unlocks the same extras.
Using your license
- Your license is personal and works on up to 5 Macs that you own or control. To move it, email support@mapc.games.
- MaPC checks your license when you activate it and about once a week. It keeps working for 30 days if it can’t reach the server.
- Don’t share or resell your key. We may disable a key that is shared widely, refunded or charged back.
- Use of MaPC is also governed by the license agreement.
Refunds
You can get a full refund within 14 days of buying, no questions asked. Reply to your receipt email or write to support@mapc.games and we’ll refund you through Gumroad. When a purchase is refunded, its license key stops working, and MaPC returns to the free version the next time it checks your license. The free app and your games are never affected. Your name is removed from the Wall of Fame within 30 days.
If you’re in the European Union, the United Kingdom or another place with consumer rights that can’t be waived, those rights still apply.
Wall of Fame
A name is shown only if you typed one at checkout. Please don’t use someone else’s name or anything offensive or misleading. We may shorten, change or remove a name for those reasons, and we remove any name on request. See the privacy page.
Save backup and restore
Save backup copies the files you choose to a folder you choose, and restore copies them back, replacing files with the same name. We try to keep a safety copy before a restore, but backups are a convenience, not a guarantee. Check that your backups work, and keep another copy of saves you can’t afford to lose.
Games and other companies
MaPC isn’t affiliated with Valve, Epic Games, GOG, Apple or CodeWeavers. Some games and stores don’t allow compatibility software, and their anti-cheat or terms may lead to a game or an account being blocked or suspended. Using MaPC with them is at your own risk. You’re responsible for following each store’s and game’s terms, and Apple’s license for the Game Porting Toolkit.
No guarantee for any game
MaPC runs Windows games on Macs through compatibility software. We don’t promise that any particular game will run, or run well. Please try the free app first. Games with kernel-level anti-cheat can’t run on macOS.
Changes
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version. A change doesn’t affect a purchase you already made, unless the law requires it.
